FAKT hovers an undulating aluminium cloudscape within a french courtyard
during the 2015 edition of the lively architecture festival, FAKT has realized an aluminium cloudscape that seems to weightlessly hover within a provincial courtyard in montpellier. the berlin and zurich-based studio have conceived ‘#034′ as a spatial and structural experiment — two sheets of 2mm thick aluminum undulates inside the semi-outdoor space, spanning a distance of 6.4 meters long by 4.5 meters wide. the two paper-like layers subtly bend, crinkle and wrinkle in juxtaposition with each other, creating apertures that allow visitors to peer through the installation to the other side of the courtyard.

House in Miramar
It is a building consisting of two distinct adjacent and interrelated volumes, the housing itself – consisting of two storeys plus a penthouse – and a garage. Although the volume, apparently, is being treated as a solid monolith, it is fully traversed, with vertical and horizontal voids, with the purpose of creating strong visual relations with its contiguous exterior spaces, and allowing the light to enter through the entire house. On the ground floor are the social and service areas, plus, in the northwest, there is a ‘body’ attached, to be used as a garage. The entire floor is opened, from north to south, allowing social spaces relate frankly to their outdoor spaces of natural expansion.

Psychedelic Lights Illuminate the Floor of a 13th-Century Castle Courtyard
We love how French artist Miguel Chevalier can transform interior spaces like churches and castles into a kaleidoscope of colors. Magic Carpets 2014 is a recent installation that comes alive at night across the octagonal inner courtyard at the Castel del Monte, a 13th-century architectural beauty located in southeast Italy.

uhlik architekti balances private forest retreat on top of boulder
based upon the client’s need to escape and gather strength for his demanding work in prague, uhlik architekti was taken to an area between central and south bohemia with the idea to create a hideaway in the countryside. ‘he took us to a spot in the midst of fields, woods and meadows, full of strange boulders, to a remote and somewhat forgotten place. the magic landscape together with the client’s aim won our hearts immediately. after a short hesitation, we decided to build the ‘forest retreat’ (as we called it later) together by our own hands.’

Floris Schoonderbeek is a designer and entrepreneur originally from the Netherlands. He developed the Groundfridge which is an underground storage unit under his brand Weltevree. This brand also sells outdoor products such as ovens, hot tubs, and furniture.
